What does it mean to be an International Student?
International students require an International Student Visa in order to study in Australia. Before you apply for a student visa, you need to have an offer of admission from the University. You then apply for your student visa from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC).
* If you have an offer of permanent residency, but have not yet taken that offer up, then you should apply as an International Student. You are not considered a Local Student until you have a permanent residency stamp in your passport.
