Provost’s Office

In addition to providing high-level executive and policy support to the Provost, the key functions of the Provost’s Office include the following:

Academic Promotions
Management of the processes in relation to the University’s annual academic promotion rounds

Academic Reviews
Providing project officer support to reviews commissioned by the Provost

Communication with and between Faculty managers
Fostering understanding, consultation, cohesion and improvement in relation to University policies, procedures, operations and strategic initiatives, across the academic community and the central portfolios.

Faculty Management Reforms
Providing support to the Faculties in relation to the effective management of reform processes

Financial Management
Through the Director Finance – Faculty Operations, the office is responsible for the preparation and analysis of Faculty monthly management accounts and related analysis reporting, including the provision of commentary on major variances to budget, together with reasons for changes to revised forecasts where necessary. It also has oversight responsibility for the preparation of Faculty budgets and liaison with the Faculty Management Accounting Team, ensuring that issues identified by the Provost and Chief Financial Officer are addressed and are prepared in line with the budget and management reporting formats of the University. It is also responsible for the development of management information to include key performance indicators and other measurements to assist management decision making, and will ensure that the focus on KPI reporting and strategic performance is maintained and continuously improved.

HR matters requiring the Provost’s approval
Ensuring that staffing matters referred to the Provost for approval are in order and providing advice in relation to such matters

University Centres and Institutes
Monitoring and review of University Centres and Institutes, to support the effective management, appropriate governance and efficient use of resources.
