Tribute to Professor Gavin Brown, Vice-Chancellor and Principal 1996 - 2008

Professor Gavin Brown AO FAA CorrFRSE commenced in the position of Vice-Chancellor and Principal of The University of Sydney on 1 July 1996. Professor Brown retires from this role on 10 July, 2008.
During his 12 years in office, Professor Brown has been responsible for reshaping the University. He has identified the key strategic directions and delivered significant achievements in these areas. Achievements which have helped The University of Sydney consolidate its position as a leading Australian university. Many of his key personal and professional achievements are detailed on this tribute site.
The University community will pay tribute to Professor Brown and thank him for his achievements at several farewell events including a formal reception in the University's Great Hall in June.
After leaving the University, Professor Gavin Brown will take up an appointment as the Inaugural Director of The Royal Institution of Australia (RiAus).
