Boarders and Lodgers: Please see the Tenants Union website: Boarders and Lodgers Fact Sheet. Boarders and lodgers do not come under the Residential Tenancies Act, and as such you do not have the same rights as a tenant.

Landlord Resources
For information about renting your property, go to:
- The Office of Fair Trading: They are the governing body of the Residential Tenancies Act and provide important information about being a landlord.
- You are also required by law to provide your tenants with the copy of The Renting Guide.
- If you are renting your property through a real estate agent, they will be able to provide you with more information, and take care of the legal aspects of renting your property.
For information about offering accommodation in your own home:
- If you are offering accommodation in your own home you can decide if you want the tenant to sign a lease or agreement. Please remember that you and your tenant still have rights and responsibilities and it is important that you are aware of these.
