Shape a Sustainable Future
The University of Sydney
Through a gift to Annual Fund, you can help our staff and students find innovative solutions to problems which threaten the future of the planet.

Research groups across the University of Sydney are currently working on projects ranging across the spectrum of environmental issues, from global warming and Australia’s water crisis to preserving biodiversity.

In one project at the School of Civil Enginerering, for example, researchers are using insights from marine biology to develop a new source of clean energy. By mimicking the way fish move through the water, they have developed a generator which harnesses the power of tidal currents.

Other research at the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources is investigating the way water is lost when it is pumped close to rivers. Meanwhile, our biologists are helping in the battle against cane toads through important research into how the toads spread across the continent.

Of course, as well as making a contribution to environmental issues, our scholars continue to produce internationally acclaimed research in a host of other areas from Alzheimer’s disease to international relations.

Your support will ensure the University maintains its global reputation for cutting-edge research – as well as helping to equip our students with the skills they need to tackle the problems of the future. Through the Annual Fund, you can make an impact far beyond the dollar value of your contributiuon.
