The influence of Leslie Wilkinson’s architecture on the city of Sydney, and particularly at the University of Sydney, is matched by the warm and generous support given to preserving his work by his descendants.
"We have found the relationship with the University a very positive one ..."
His granddaughter, Madeleine Adams (née Wilkinson) (BA 1976), together with her four siblings, has been involved with the “Renewing the Foundations of Excellence” campaign for the Wilkinson building refurbishment for the Faculty of Architecture. Her brother Phillip and her sister Georgina have both presented the Leslie Wilkinson Prize in Architectural History and Theory to talented undergraduate students of the Faculty.
“I am delighted that the Faculty has this direct link back to Leslie Wilkinson, a link that we greatly treasure,” says the former Dean of Architecture Professor Gary Moore.
“It’s very much reciprocated,” declares Madeleine Adams, whose three of her four sons are or will be Sydney University graduates. “We have found the relationship with the University a very positive one and that is how the next generation has interpreted it as well. We are delighted to have held the exhibition of my grandfather’s artworks in the University Art Gallery.”
